i spent the evening at my friends house making some cupcakes that shes gonna have at a bridal show this weekend. she just started up this awesome cupcake business, the boombox bakeshop, and caters cupcakes for parties and events, and now for weddings/engagement parties etc! i'm pretty excited, and the cupcakes look soo good! i'll show you more pictures after the show! so i finished these new mitts quite awhile ago, but realized i hadn't shown them to you. i'm really loving this pair, they are super warm and i love that they are neutral and go with any of my coats. i picked up the super soft alpaca for them over a year ago when i was on a trip, and i'm so glad that this is what i decided to knit it into! i feel like spring might be coming (!!!) but i'm gonna wear these warm little guys until then!!

so after work today i had a night in the studio. i didn't really get all that much done, but i did organize a lot, and updated the shop. i've slowly been trying to find new homes for all of my things in the new studio space, and its slowly coming along. i'm also figuring out some new work for the spring, working with a new, more cohesive colourway, and adding in a few new prints. i also have lots of show applications in progress, and i have an exciting new project that i'm working with a shop on (i'll tell ya more about that soon!).

and heres a sneak peak, (don't judge the mess!) of my new space. with my new print table in the process of being built. i've been working with a printing table that was about 4'x4' (you can kinda see it sitting there, its the actual table top), and my boyfriend and i are in the process of making a new table, thats going to be 4'x11'!! i'm so excited for more space!! i'll show you more photos as the studio gets more pulled together! ohh and don't forget to check out sale in the shop, it will only be up like this for another week or so!

so i've been trying to cook new meals more often, and trying to keep track of what i'm eating. chili is one of those things that if i forget to take a lunch to work i usually end up buying, so i decided to try and make some instead! last night i found a few things in the pantry and a few items that i specifically bought to cook with, and made some chili. and it turned out pretty tasty! and it made quite a lot, so now i've got lots of lunches to take with me!

hello blog world!! its been a while. the last stretch of 2011 was a crazy one! with 2 jobs plus working for my self, the move and christmas gatherings the end of december flew by!! and now i'm ready and excited for the fresh start of a new year!
i'm not usually one for resolutions, but there are a few things i'd to do and add into my life this year. quite a few things i have started to add into my daily life in the last few months, and i'm really going to try and keep it going in the new year.
1) create more often
2) try new things
3) work harder and keep up a healthy life style
4) don't fuss over the small stuff
5) save up for big things/travel fund!

i hope its a great year for all of you! i think that 2012 is gonna be a good one :)

i just came across this amazing artist via Pretty Zoo. these rocks are paintings! the artist Carly Waito photographs the precious rocks and then renders them in oil paint. i couldn't believe that they were paintings at first. i am amazed by the detail and realism. gorgeous.

so we moved on sunday! and now we're trying to get all settled and unpacked in the new house. and there are so many things i want to do! like paint. quite a few of the rooms. and decorate! i just came across these gorgeous shelves via Moorea's blog, and i love them. i think that they would look great in the living room, we want to paint in either a light mint or grey, and we have nice dark grey/blue couches that these would look great above.

so life has been super crazy lately! i'm working 2 jobs, working for myself, and some really exciting news: we're moving next week!! me and my boyfriend bought a house and we're getting our new keys in one week!

hey all! so its finally the end of an insanely busy week! sorry for the lack of blogging, but theres been so many things going on. i'm working a part-time job right now, which i really like. i'm working at an art supply store, and its pretty fun. and i'm working for my self. and this past week was a bit of a crazy juggle trying to get ready for a big show this weekend. i was at a Wearable Arts sale and the museum in my city, and it was a really great show. and i showed some new pieces! which i will be showing you in the next few days! i now have printed tunics!! i'm pretty excited about them, and they went over really well at the show this weekend and i almost sold out of them! i will take some nice pictures and show you soon!
this week is gonna be another busy one, i'm working full-time this week, and getting ready for another show in two weeks, and the boyfriend and i have got some big things going on in our life. i'll tell ya more about that one later too :)

so i'm trying to figure out what to be this year for Halloween. and as usual, i have far too many ideas. my best friend is having a Halloween/birthday party this weekend, and i'm so excited to dress up, yet i'm going to have to figure out as what pretty soon! i always like being something typically halloweeney/spooky, ie witch, vampire, zombie etc, and i love playing around with makeup. i've been hunting around the web tonight, and my thoughts have gone a little in the direction of something to do with feathers, sparkles and a lot of black... you'll have to wait and see what i come up with!!

so i've been playing around in the studio this week with some new projects. i'm working on a line of tunics, and i'm pretty excited about it! i've been interested in making clothes forever, almost went to fashion school instead of textiles. and i'm really excited to finally be creating my fabrics into clothing. i'm working in greys and blacks, some transparent, in over sized and flowing shapes. i just got one done, and i'll so it to you soon! (i wanted to take some pictures outside today but it was raining).
ohh and i got this book from the workroom, and i'm using it for some inspiration.

i was so excited when i saw the final lookbook the other day for Virginia Johnson's fall 2011 collection, cause i helped with it! i didn't do too much :) but i was a part of the product shoot, where we took photos of all of the pieces of the collection at a few different angles and such for all of the promo work. and it was so fun. defiantly one of the best parts of my internship there. and then they did another photo shoot day, where they photographed the lovely Steph (who works for Virginia) in some of the pieces. and i think that it all turned out great!

so a few weeks ago when i went to Hamilton to the Beehive Craft Fair, my mom and i made a visit to the Royal Botanical Gardens. surprisingly i had never been there, even though i've driven passed it probably every other weekend for 3 years. but i'm really glad we went to check it out. we went to the Rock Garden area first, then to the big main building. it was so gorgeous out, such a perfect day for walking around a garden.

its been a nice quite weekend around here, and now i'm getting ready to go away tomorrow. i'm off to the cottage with the man friend and some of our best friends for the week! i'm really excited to get out of town and relax on the beach for the week.

so here are some pictures from the Craft Fair last weekend. it was a really great event, and it was really nice to see some friends that i hadn't seen in a while, and to talk to the other vendors and the people who came out. it was held on James St North in Hamilton, in a really cool building thats in the process of being renovated. i really like how everything was set up, and all of the decorating the Bees did for the event. i hope that they do another fair sometime!

so i made this tree for my cousin and her new hubby for their wedding a few weeks ago. i had seen the idea before, and thought that it would be such a nice memory of all of the people at your wedding. i drew the tree with lots of branches, and then at the reception all of the guests stamped their finger print in green, like a leaf, and signed their name. i saw the tree near the end of the night all covered in leaves, and i can't wait to see it all done and up on the wall in their new house!

i'm really liking the way the photos came out. i have this awesome brick back drop that the best friend got for me that used to be a store display. and its the perfect pairing for my prints. it was a little tricky taking photos of myself, but i got my timer and temporary tripod (the bbq!) all set up. and it was crazy windy today, that didn't help much with the scarves and backdrop blowing everywhere!! but thats okay, it all turned out!

so i was window shopping downtown this afternoon and came across some gorgeous Matt and Nat bags. i just love their line of bag, they are so pretty and well made. i really really want one. and i found these guys online, on sale for half price!! i almost got the credit card out right away, but i've decided to exercise a little restrain, and see if i still really want one in a few days, then i'll get one.
but i had a really nice time downtown, on this one shopping strip that i haven't been down in ages. i was eyeing out some places that i might try and get my line of scarves placed in. ohh and i did a little bit of shopping, i picked up this awesome necklace that i'll show you later. i have a weakness for statement necklaces right now, i have another awesome one that i got last week from a girl at the handmade vendors market.

so in the next few weeks i've got some more shows coming up. this weekend i'll be downtown here in london, at this new artists and vendors market called The Metropolitan Market. its a really cool place. they restored this old building downtown that used to be a department store with the same name. i'm really looking forward to it, i'll show you some photos next week! and theres a festival going on downtown all weekend too, a Car Free festival. it sounds like its gonna be a lot of fun, they are shutting down most of the downtown core and running events, music and activities all day long. i think it'll be a really fun weekend downtown!

so the last few weeks have been a little crazy for me. but mostly good crazy. and this weekend that just passed was great. my cousin just got married on the weekend and i was in the bridal party. and i had such a great time. the wedding was beautiful and it was so nice to see so many good friends and family. and it was fun to get all dressed up! the whole weekend was so nice, from the rehearsal dinner to getting the bride all ready to dancing our butts off! it was such a good time. and i can't wait to see the photographers photos, these ones are just from my camera and my friends.

hi all! the last few days have been a bit of a blur. i had a possible job opportunity pop up at the end of last week, then had a bachelorette party to host on the weekend while stressing out about said job interview, then the crazy job interview yesterday (that did not go very well, but on a good side not at least i won't be moving again!) and then today the exhaustion finally hit! at least on my day trip to Toronto yesterday (after school ended i moved back home to London, which is like 2 hours away) we got to do a little shopping and visited some of my really good friends. i'm hoping the rest of the week is a bit quieter and goes back to normal.

my busy weekend...

hey ladies!! so after a busy week i'm back! last week was totally crazy, working my new job and being in the studio at all other times! and then last weekend i had my first big 3 day craft show. and it was a really great experience. the festival was pretty quiet compared to other years, i think it may have been the heat. it was about 35°c all weekend! sooo hot. plus the humidity, which made it feel almost 40°, which is really hot for this area. but the weekend other than the small crowds was pretty good, i made some really great connections for some other shows coming up in the fall, and it was really good to set my booth all up in a bigger space than i've done before. but its really nice this week to be quieter!

theres a new look around here on the blog. i hope you all like it! i really wanted to be using bigger pictures and couldn't do it on the old format. i thought it was time for a little make over. i'm still working out some kinks, so things may keep changing a little bit.

LOVE this hair style. i'm loving all of the different ways people are styling their scarves this summer, and the headband scarf has got to be my favourite look. check out this tutorial here for how to get this style.

artsee cafe...

so i'm feeling a little overwhelmed and super busy this week. but tonight i got a whole pile of work ready to go off to The Artsee Cafe in Bayfield, Ontario. i'm really excited to have some of my work displayed there. its a super cute cafe, with amazing food, and all of the art on the walls is for sale! they always feature local artists, and i'm really excited to be included this summer. i have a whole pile of scarves ready to go, as well as a bunch of the snap brooches. i haven't been stitching in a while, but it was nice and therapeutic to work on this week. i can't wait to see what it all looks like hung up, i'll have to take a picture and share!
i hope you all have a good weekend, i'm off to the cottage, but i feel its gonna be more of a work weekend. i have so much work to do before next weeks show that i think the computer is gonna have to come up with me. and i think that i'm gonna recruit my friend into helping me dye a bunch of fabric! well see if she likes it!

so in just over a week i'm going to have a booth at a huge craft fair here at home in London, Ontario. i haven't done a show this big before, so i don't really know what to expect or how much product to have. so i've been making as much as i can! plus i just got a job, so life has been super busy!!
i've got the scarves in all kinds of colours, and i'm loving how they look. so nice and bright. and last night i started some new projects (why not have even more stuff to work on right?!), i'll show you them later. ohh and i'm taking some of my work up to this adorable little beach town on Lake Huron this weekend to put up in a gallery/cafe. man life is busy right now!!

we have quite the herb garden growing this summer, so we decided to make our own cream cheese. i chopped up garlic chives, basil, parsley and a little bit of lemon grass and added it to plain cream cheese. it tastes really good, so nice a fresh! and i think that by tomorrow morning for breakfast the flavours will have settled a bit and taste even better!

so the warm summer weather has hit, and i'm fully embracing wearing my hair up most days. i love the slightly high messy bun, and i'm loving bandana headbands. the one i'm wearing is one i made, its the smaller size of my scarves rolled up. this is defiantly going to be a summer staple.

hey ladyfaces! sorry its been quite around here, i was away for the weekend. and really enjoyed my few days off from the real world. i went away with my family for a few days, and then for a night with my man friend, brother, sister and law and their two cute little girls to the beach.
while catching up in the blog world today i came across My New Roots, and i want to try everything they make! you should check it out, it all looks so tasty!

so here are a few pictures from our weekend away to the cottage. last weekend was awesome, such a good time with great friends. and the weather was beautiful! except the lake water was sooo cold!! hopefully it'll be a bit warmer when we go back in a few weeks.

i printing more scarves in the studio today. i did a few more purple and then moved on to blues. i'm really loving all of the colours right now. the dyes came out more saturated than some of the other dye batches i've done before, and i'm using a new brand of pigment (what i print the pattern with), and i'm really liking it.

i've been pretty productive tonight printing in the studio. i had dyed these new colours a few weeks ago, and am now working on printing a whole bunch of scarves. i've got a pretty big show coming up in a few weeks, and i'm trying to load up on inventory.
i'm really loving these colours right now, coral always seems like such a summer colour.

my best friend is a little cupcake connoisseur! shes been baking up a storm lately, trying out different kinds of cupcakes. i've taste tested a few of them, and ohh man are they good! i'm really excited for her, shes starting up a baking business, baking cupcakes for parties and events! shes located out of Toronto, and i'll let you all know when her website is all up and running. for now you can drool over the photos!

i'm going to the cottage tomorrow! its our first cottage weekend of the summer, and i'm sooo excited. i think about the cottage all year long, when it just won't stop snowing, when i miss my friends, when its cold outside, and then finally summertime comes around. this year the man friend and i are going up for 2 weekends a one week at his cottage, and then we have a bunch of other weekends planed at other family and friends cottages. and its gonna be awesome! this weekend we're off with some of our best friends, and i can't wait for lounging in the sun, hopefully swimming, and lots of yummy drink! i hope you all have a good weekend too!

knitted bugs...

so i realized that i hadn't really shown you ladies the installation i did of my knitted bugs at my grad show. the place we used for the show was being renovated, and i loved it. when we got there to set up i found this amazing hole in the wall. it was about a foot wide and ran up the whole wall, and it was the perfect place to put my bugs. i had about 30 of them to install, and had them crawling along the wall and into and up the crevice. we put a spot light at the top of the hole, but a lot of people didn't even see the bugs at first. it was great. they kinda walked by, and then all the sudden realized that there was a swarm of bugs on the wall. it was defiantly fun, and a really interesting way to install the piece, defiantly way different than the first way they were installed. and i'll probably do it all different next time!

i've been down in my studio yesterday and today working on organizing and printing my scarves. i'm almost sold out of my coloured scarves, so today i'm gonna print some new ones that i have already dyed, and i'm also working on some custom orders now. last night was the first time that i have dyed scarves at home, not in the school studio, and it went way smoother than i thought it would.
what do you ladies think? what colours and prints do you like the most?

i had another show this past weekend, Art in the Village. it was another nice day in the park, almost rained all day, but didn't! and my set up went even better this time, i'm getting slightly more organized and prepared. i added some new items that i brought out with me, some more tote bags and tee shirts, as well as some camera drawings. it was really nice talking to everyone that came by my booth! i'm really loving the summer craft fair circuit, and i can't wait till my big show next month!!

so last saturday was my first big summer show, Gathering on the Green. it was in my neighbourhood, and had a huge turnout. i had a really good time, and it was pretty much a practice run for my really big show coming up next month. we had pretty good weather all day, except for a big downpour right at the start of the show. but it was nice talking to people about my work, and i got to show off my product to some family friends who hadn't seen it yet. i totally forgot to take any pictures of my booth, but my brother managed to get these.
i have another show coming up this weekend in the same park, and i'm getting pretty excited to do it all over again!

so these little guys were my most exciting finds from the Antique Market that i went to just over a week ago. i started collecting vintage cameras a few years ago, and now i've got a little family of them. i'll show you all of them sometime soon. i really like these two, especially the cute little mini brownie! and i've got a project in the works right now that involves these guys, perhaps i'll show you a sneak peak tomorrow :)

so i finally have my little studio up and running! we made a print table this week, but the top still needs to be finished (thats why it looks like it doesn't fit all the way to the back). and i got a little floating shelf up with all of my pigments and printing tools on it. and i have a whole brand new batch of screens!! which is so exciting. i'll show them all to you sometime.
its so exciting and fun, to be able to work on my own line whenever i want, right in my house! and i'm loving having all of my stuff in one space, thats just my own. and i love being able to print whenever i want!!
(ohh and i'm getting ready for a craft show tomorrow, so theres lots of product to sort thru and get ready to take with me.)
