halloween ideas...

so i'm trying to figure out what to be this year for Halloween. and as usual, i have far too many ideas. my best friend is having a Halloween/birthday party this weekend, and i'm so excited to dress up, yet i'm going to have to figure out as what pretty soon! i always like being something typically halloweeney/spooky, ie witch, vampire, zombie etc, and i love playing around with makeup. i've been hunting around the web tonight, and my thoughts have gone a little in the direction of something to do with feathers, sparkles and a lot of black... you'll have to wait and see what i come up with!!

upper metal class...

hey fellow bloggers! so the week kinda got away from me, i've got some new and exciting things going on and a bit of a job change, which i'm really excited about. i'm still working for myself obviously, but i like to keep a job on the side, and i've started a new one and really love it.
and for now, heres some gorgeous jewelry i've been drooling over lately. i love pretty much every piece from Upper Metal Class, and these are some of my favourites right now! aren't the little skulls just awesome?! i actually own a pair of her triangle earrings, and have pretty much worn them everyday since i got them.

new embroidery work...

i've been working on some new embroidery work for my upcoming shows. i love the texture in these pieces, and the way the stitches play on top of the print.

white elephant...

so i told you guys that i had some orders going out, well a bunch of my scarves are now at White Elephant in Hamilton! i met the lovely ladies of White Elephant last spring while we had our grad show exhibit on James St North. I love, love, love their shop, and i'm so excited to be included along with so many other great artists and designers! if your in that area make sure to check out the shop sometime!

new projects!

so i've been playing around in the studio this week with some new projects. i'm working on a line of tunics, and i'm pretty excited about it! i've been interested in making clothes forever, almost went to fashion school instead of textiles. and i'm really excited to finally be creating my fabrics into clothing. i'm working in greys and blacks, some transparent, in over sized and flowing shapes. i just got one done, and i'll so it to you soon! (i wanted to take some pictures outside today but it was raining).
ohh and i got this book from the workroom, and i'm using it for some inspiration.

X. X-Rays you’ve had: Just teeth/my head. I have a pretty cool x-ray from after i had jaw surgery, you can see 3 screws in my chin and some other metal bits attaching parts of my jaw.
Y. Yummy food that you make: um i'm not a huge cook or baker, but i do love to make all kinds of yummy stir frys with any veggies we've got in the house.
Z. Zoo animal: lemurs. they are for sure the coolest. i'd have one as a pet if i could.

saturday morning at the market...

so my momma and i went downtown this morning for breakfast and then to the market. it was such a nice morning, and the perfect start to October! its quite chilly here already, but its also so nice and sunny. we went out for breaky, then to this really nice department store, got a latte, and then walked around the market. they still have the farmers market going on outside, and everything looked so good and tasty!
